Gregory Quintin Collins, affectionately known as “Love ” “Mr. G” and “Uncle Greg”, was born to Marion Thompson Jr. and Doris Jean Moss. He was the second child in the family and was known throughout his life for his caring, generous, and compassionate spirit.
As a young man and throughout his adulthood, Gregory always placed others before himself. He enjoyed cooking, reading the newspaper, and working hard to provide for his family. His home was always open to anyone in need, reflecting his kind heart and willingness to help others. His warm smile, friendly nature, and loving personality touched the lives of many.
Gregory was a faithful member of Temple Christian Center under the spiritual leadership of Pastor A. Harrison. His faith, kindness, and devotion to family and friends will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Gregory was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Doris Jean Moss; and his brothers, Tommie Collins, Michael A. Collins, and Eric D. Thompson.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving wife of 29 years, Sheila Loftin-Collins; his sons, Gregory Quintin Collins II and Shemar Collins of Dallas, Texas; and his cherished granddaughter, Za’Niyah Collins.
He is also survived by his father, Marion Thompson Jr. and wife Jean of Duncanville, Texas; five brothers: Dennis Gipson of Paris, Texas, Marion Thompson III of Lancaster, Texas, Rodney Collins of Lancaster, Texas, David McDonald of Dallas, Texas, and Latret Thompson of Fort Worth, Texas; and two sisters, Loretta Minor of Dallas, Texas, and Marisha Jackson of Plano, Texas. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
Gregory’s legacy of love, generosity, faith, and service to others will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 5-7:00PM at RW Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas, 200 S. Santa Fe St, Wolfe City, Texas 75496.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 12:00PM at The St. John Church in Dallas, Texas, 2600 South Marsalis Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75216.
Burial to follow the funeral service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery -West in Wolfe City, Texas.
