Jimmy James Sr.

Jimmy James, Sr., 81, of Wolfe City, Texas, passed away on Sept. 13, 2026. He was born March 6, 1945 in Vernon, Texas, to Aline and Willie Mae (Jones) James. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1963 and attended the National Electronics Institute in Denver, where he met the love of his life, Loralei, a student at Denver University.

Jim and Lori married on July 25, 1965 in Littleton, Colorado. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before she passed away in 2017. Jim lived in the Wolfe City area for almost 50 years.

Jim was the owner of a direct marketing company for 30 years. He was known for driving his orange (later sky blue) Ford Ranger and wearing his patriotic ball caps to visit clients all over Hunt County. He closed the company to care for Lori full time when she became sick.

Previously, he worked for the Zenith Corporation in the San Francisco Bay area and for Texas Instruments in Denver and in Dallas before starting his own business. He devoted many years to the Audie Murphy Museum and Audie Murphy Days, where he formed life-long friendships around the United States. Jim was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville.

Jim is survived by his daughter Lynette McGlamery (Gerry) of Houston; son Jimmy Jr. (Martha) of Houston; three grandchildren Laurie Beth Hendricks (Jake), Tommy James (Erin) and Caitlin McGlamery; three great-grandchildren Paisley Hendricks, Archie Hendricks, and Amelia James; and sister Linda Eder of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brother, Teddy.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sept. 27, 2026 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City. A graveside service and internment will be 11 a.m., Sept. 28, 2026 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
